No-exam life insurance
Learn who qualifies for accelerated underwriting, how the process works and what to expect if you do not qualify.
Modern carriers increasingly employ expedited underwriting: for applicants meeting age and coverage criteria, they render decisions based on your application, medication records, driving history and similar sources rather than ordering a physical exam. Certain products yield decisions within hours. Every quote in our tool indicates whether an exam is required, potentially required, or not needed for that particular offering.
What it changes
Exam-free underwriting does not eliminate the review process. The carrier will verify your statements, and policies issued based on misstatements can be challenged during the contestable period of two years. If the carrier's investigation uncovers concerns, they may request an exam or lab results; at that point, you can choose to proceed or not.
Who tends to qualify
Applicants generally under age 60, requesting coverage amounts within the carrier's expedited underwriting threshold, without significant health issues and non-tobacco users for at least the past year typically qualify. Recent bloodwork from a doctor's visit may be accepted by some carriers as a substitute for an exam.
When an exam is required, a paramedic typically visits your Indio-area home or workplace for a 20- to 30-minute appointment at no charge. For healthy applicants, exam results frequently result in a better rate classification, so the exam can be advantageous rather than a drawback.
